Leader-passing

Let teammates hand you Rust team leadership — even while you’re offline holding it — so it never gets stuck.

The problem it solves

In Rust, only the current team leader can promote someone else. If the leader logs off still holding the crown, leadership is stuck until they’re back. That also blocks the map bot from acting as the leader (some actions need it).

How to turn it on

  • Pair your Rust+ to the server (see getting started).
  • On your maps, hit leader-passing: on next to that pairing. That opts your stored pairing in to being used for hand-offs.

Now a teammate can take leadership two ways:

!leaderin team chat, any member makes themselves the leader
the mapclick a teammate → make team leader (owner or the current leader can pass it on)

Notes

  • The map stays powered by the tenant owner’s pairing — passing leadership doesn’t change whose map it is.
  • If your pairing shows re-pair needed, refresh it (re-run the wizard) so leader-passing keeps working.
  • Leader-passing is off by default and per-pairing — you choose which servers it’s enabled on.
